Hi to all my friends, family and those snooping in on my private affairs... I know you are checking me out... so go away :-). As you will see this site is my long overdue personal web site in which I will try and document in various media my fabulous life, fantastic friends and family, and most special hubby of over 11 years now, Mike. Yes South Africa does allow gay marriages now, but we are not formally married yet, although to all intensive purposes we are.

We (Mike and I) have the privilege of owning a home of our own (that’s us on the couch in our lounge above), in an exciting and ever evolving country, South Africa. I was born in the beautiful city of Cape Town,  while Mike comes from Port Elizabeth (also a coastal city in SA). As you may have guessed by my family name, my Parents are German, and immigrated to SA over 40 years ago. Well my dad is German / Swedish to be honest as my he is originally from Sweden. While I never learnt Swedish, I do speak German, and understand it perfectly.

Mike who studied German and also French is  really much better at reading and writing than me, as I am also dyslexic, which makes it hard for me to communicate even in English written word.

My brother, mother and father (all Schwinges obviously) make up the others by our family name in South Africa, They are located in or nearer Cape Town currently, but seem to move around a lot.

Most of my family obviously lives in Germany and as with many young (especially white) people in SA, many (if not most) of our friends have emigrated and live all over the world now. I hope to visit them all as we find finance to leave the tip of Africa and travel to various parts of the World where they are now living. This site will hopefully include pictures of them and the places we visit as we explore this amazing planet of ours.
